Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. As a young girl, she moved to Oxfordshire to attend the Dragon School. Emma's goal was to be an actor. When she was 6, she enrolled in the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons in acting, singing and dancing. As part of a school production and an Stagecoach show, she was the lead at the age 10 and performed. In 1999 casting began in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theater teacher. After eight consecutive auditions, producer David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were cast to play the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. It was also the most successful film in 2001. Its opening weekend and day sales were record-breaking. Critics have praised both the film, as well as the performance by three main young actors. The highly distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Then Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her role in the film, winning an award called the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in the feature Film.
